Come to the U.S. Botanic Garden on May 30 from 3 to 5 p.m. to dig into fantastic plant facts with author Ann McCallum Staats. This event is FREE. Play a game with Ann to investigate the truth about how some of the most gigantic, toxic, and stunning species in the plant kingdom survive and thrive. Seeds that explode? A tree that welcomes fire? Berries so toxic that even munching a few can be fatal? In this drop-in program, learn amazing facts about a variety of plants discussed in Ann’s latest book, “Fantastic Flora: The World’s Biggest, Baddest, and Smelliest Plants.” Ask questions to discover more about the science behind some remarkable plants, and leave feeling inspired by the diversity of plant life. The garden is located at100 Maryland Ave. SW, Washington, DC 20001. All ages welcome!
