Archaeology Family Day at Mount Vernon
*The event has already taken place on this date: Sun, 11/03/2024
Explore how archaeology has shaped what we know about the Washingtons, the lives of the enslaved people who lived at Mount Vernon, and the 18th-century at our Archaeology Family Day!
Please help us keep this calendar up to date! If this activity is sold out, canceled, or otherwise needs alteration, email mindy@kidsoutandabout.com so we can update it immediately. If you have a question about the activity itself, please contact the organization administrator listed below.
Visit the Family Hub at the Bowling Green to learn about the archaeological process. Here, you can explore our activity stations to participate in your own miniature dig, put broken objects back together, and make your own replicas out of clay.
Continue to explore at home with the take-home craft kit and broken plate puzzle (while supplies last).
Plus, hear our resident fifer in his Music of the Revolution Program at 10:30 and 2:30 (Saturday only). Join Mount Vernon education staff for a story program at 11:00 and 2:00.
Please note that the estate will not offer sensory-friendly hours for this event.
*Times, dates, and prices of any activity posted to our calendars are subject to change. Please be sure to click through directly to the organization’s website to verify.
