The Children’s Science Center Lab is Northern Virginia’s first interactive museum where children, families, and school groups can explore science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) concepts through fun, engaging hands-on exhibits, activities, and programs. The mission is to instill a love of learning STEM by providing unique opportunities to explore and create. The Lab has four experience zones (Experiment Bar, Tinker Shop, Discovery Zone, and Inspiration Hub) that change exhibits and activities monthly. The Lab’s “Garage” is a flex-space in our center for camps, classes, workshops, parties, and mini expositions to showcase regional STEM talent in-action among area youth and families. Brooklyn Robot Foundry offers hands-on robot-building programs for children and adults. These super creative STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, Math) programs are engaging, immersive, and tons of fun. Each class features a new whimsical robot that students get to build, decorate, and take home afterward!

Panda Programmer teaches computer programming to children ages 5 and above. “Instead of just PLAYING video games, have your kids DESIGN and PROGRAM them!” Students have a blast, while the Panda Programmer instructors guide them and help them learn logic, control structures, and graphics, all within a solid event-based model of computer programming. Students program their own customized animations, educational applications, and computer games. Panda Programmer uses the platforms Scratch and Scratch JR (both developed by MIT). Both platforms may be used by students to maintain their skills after the Panda Programmer class at no cost.
