Kindergarten camp: May 3, 4, and 7

Takoma Park Elementary has no school for kindergarteners on Thursday, May 3, Friday, May 4 and Monday, May 7. We will be operating a kindergarteners-only construction zone at Little Loft, studying artist Sabato Rodia and the Watts Towers he built in Los Angeles over a period of 34 years using found materials.

9:00-3:30, optional aftercare until 6:00
$225 for all three days, or $85 for a single day (use the drop-in tab in the registration link)

Summer 2018

Summer camp registration is now open!

K-3 CAMP
Ages 5-8

We offer an arts-based day camp for children entering kindergarten through third grade (ages 5-8). The camp day is 9:00-3:30, with optional aftercare until 6:00. Sample schedule is above, themes and dates below.

Selfies (with a paintbrush!) - June 18-22 and July 30-Aug 3
Selfies aren't just for cellphones! Discover different ways to represent yourself during Selfies Week. We'll take a look at how other artists have portrayed themselves throughout history.

African American Artists - June 25-29 and Aug 6-10
Young artists will focus on collage and painting while exploring  the art and lives of several African American artists this camp week. Clementine Hunter, Jean Michel Basquiat, Jacob Lawrence, Alma Thomas and Nick Cave, just to name to a few. 

Fiber Arts - July 16-20 and Aug 13-17
*Sew* much to love here... Experiment with fabrics, yarn and felt. Campers will use paint, printmaking techniques and easy sewing to transform textiles.

Bookmaking - July 23-27 and Aug 20-24
Turn stories into bound books using found materials and unusual shapes. Discover different ways to bring a story to life!

Special one-week only: Dollhouse Week - July 9-13
Have you ever wanted the chance to design the inside of your dream house? Think pompom beds, beaded chandeliers and fancy staircases. We'll use unconventional materials to create a unique dollhouse, no limits to your tiny house and your big imagination!

PRESCHOOLER CAMP
Ages 4-5 (almost 4 ok)

Our preschool day offers choice time, outside play, and thematic art projects that we build on over the course of the week. Great for not-quite-school age kids who love to create! This camp is open to our youngest set (almost 4-5 year olds) from 9:00-1:00 on the following weeks:

June 25-29
July 30-Aug 3
Aug 6-10

SEWING CAMP FOR TWEENS
Ages 9-12

Take your maker skills to the next level! This camp uses practical projects to teach hand sewing and machine sewing basics, from embroidery to zippers. No previous experience necessary, but you must be able to tie a knot and thread a needle. This camp day is 9:00-1:00.

Payment Plans: All campers can be enrolled using our payment plan - half down when you register, and half due on May 1. If you have trouble accessing this during the registration process, please contact lia@littleloftdc.com. If you are eligible for free or reduced lunch through school, we have scholarships available.

Cancellation Policy: Summer camp payments can be refunded until May 1, 2018, except for a $35 administration fee. After May 1, there are NO REFUNDS for summer camp. You may switch weeks, if there is space available, at no charge. If you need to cancel after May 1, you can receive a credit in the amount of your payment, minus $35, which can be applied to winter or spring camp in the upcoming year.
