StringTime Music Camp

Has your rising 4th-6th grader wanted to try a string instrument but you were hesitant to get locked into an instrument rental contract or commit to a semester of lessons? Then send them to StringTime Music Camp, a beginner violin and cello camp in Fairfax County, VA taught by some of the best young adult musicians in the country. No prior experience is required to attend and instruments provided.

ABOUT

Ages: Completed 3rd-5th grades

Time: 9:00am-4:45pm (optional early drop-off 8:00am and late pick-up 6:00pm)

Session 1: June 20th-24th, Concert: June 24th at 5:00pm

Session 2: June 27th-July 1st, Concert: July 1st at 5:00pm

Location: Church of the Good Shepherd (9350 Braddock Rd. Burke, VA 22015)

Instrument selection: Students pick violin OR cello. Students wanting to learn both instruments must attend both sessions.

COST

Deposit: $75

Tuition: $600 per session (15% sibling discount)

Before/After Care: $50 per session

CAMP PROGRAM

Instrument instruction: hold the instrument and use the bow

Musicianship class: note reading, theory, rhythm, and ear training

Technique in twos: rotate through instrument specific technique class in pairs

Ensemble rehearsals: work together in a group, concentrate, and follow along

Faculty concerts: listen and learn about composers through engaging performances

Game time: indoors and outdoors (weather permitting)
