Join us for story hour in our community room; we’ll start at 10:00 and then again at 10:30. This month we’ll be reading Hot Dog by Doug Salati and Lion Lessons by Jon Agee.
Storytime attendees will receive 15% off all picture books. All ages are welcome, but those under 12 will enjoy it the most.
The Potter's House is a Pay-What-You-Can nonprofit café and bookstore located in the Adams Morgan neighborhood of Washington, DC, that exists to provide good food and conversation to all who cross its threshold—regardless of their means.
Since 1960, The Potter’s House has been a steady, welcoming presence in Adams Morgan, offering radical hospitality to all who walk through our doors. Our ethos revolves around the concept of paying it forward: every coffee and book purchase contributes to our organizational mission, and patrons can easily make additional donations to provide meals for those facing food insecurity. Through this model and a commitment to service, we provide more than 22,000 free meals each year to neighbors who might otherwise go hungry.
While our current programming centers around this Pay It Forward model, a daily offering that meets immediate needs in our community by addressing food insecurity with dignity and care, we plan to expand our impact through a new initiative: Page It Forward, a literacy-focused effort specifically designed for early childhood. This program reflects our belief that while Pay It Forward responds to urgent, existing needs, Page It Forward proactively nurtures the future of our community by addressing growing educational and developmental deficits among our youngest neighbors.
These efforts will include storytimes and more initiatives that we’ll be sure to communicate when the time comes.
