Join us for our fourth annual “Summer Movies on the Lawn” outdoor film festival this summer on August 12th with the popular contemporary take on classic fairy tales, "The Princess Bride" (1987).

Please help us keep this calendar up to date! If this activity is sold out, canceled, or otherwise needs alteration, email mindy@kidsoutandabout.com so we can update it immediately. If you have a question about the activity itself, please contact the organization administrator listed below.
Part of the Library’s fourth annual “Summer Movies on the Lawn” outdoor film festival, this series of films showcases iconic films from the Library’s National Film Registry, will be presented on Thursday evenings at sundown this summer on the north lawn of the Library’s Thomas Jefferson Building, across the street from the U.S. Capitol. No tickets are required for these outdoor film screenings, but capacity will be limited. Each group of attendees will be assigned a seating location that is at least 6 feet apart from other attendee groups. Guests may bring their own food and beverages, but alcohol is prohibited.

Fully vaccinated attendees are not required to wear masks, but those who are not fully vaccinated (meaning two weeks past their final shot) must wear masks at all times, except when actively eating or drinking.

Located between the Supreme Court and the Jefferson Building at 10 First St., SE (running the length of East Capitol Street between First and Second streets, SE), the north lawn of the Jefferson Building provides a magnificent space for people to watch films in the shadows of the U.S. Capitol Building.

Seating on the lawn will be available starting at 6:30 p.m., with the film to commence at sunset (times will vary).
