Spend a Quiet Morning Exploring Mount Vernon
Before your visit, we'll send you materials to prepare your family for a visit.
Upon arrival, guests will receive a sensory bag (while supplies last.)
Look for our Discovery Station for a hands-on lesson.
Explore the Historic Area with a special self-guided tour.
A take-a-break room will be available from 8 a.m. to 9 a.m.
Open-House Mansion Tours
Mansion tours will be available.
Guests will participate in an open-house style, tactile experience at their own pace.
Staff will be available to answer questions.
Accessibility
Although the 18th-century pathways in the historic area can be uneven, there is an accessible path linking the Mansion, Ford Orientation Center, and the Donald W. Reynolds Museum and Education Center.
Only the first floor of the Mansion is wheelchair accessible.
All program locations will be available via accessible paths.
It is a 0.3 mile distance from the admission counter to the Mansion.
Standard, non-motorized wheelchairs and wheeled walkers are available free of charge inside the Ford Orientation Center on a first-come, first served basis.
