The National Farmers Market Association that in order to change our country into a state of healthy living, we must first start by educating the families and children on the necessity for fresh food consumption. As of January 2011, statistical research revealed that roughly 16% to 33% of our youth are unhealthily obese, a staggering figure which continues to rise throughout the 50 states; in adults, each state is - on average - 30% obese. The catalysts behind these alarming numbers are not necessarily as much food consumption rates as they are food choices made.
