University of Virginia's Camp Kesem is a free, week long summer camp for kids affected by a parents cancer. Our program is part of a National Organization, Camp Kesem, whose mission is to supports children through and beyond their parent's cancer. We serve children who have lost a parent to cancer, have a parent undergoing cancer treatment, or whose parent is a cancer survivor – an estimated population of over 5 million children in the United States.

Serving children ages 6 to 18, our campers experience a warm and loving environment with other children who have similar life experiences. More than anything else, Camp Kesem is magical week filled fun and exciting activities including arts and crafts, sports, swimming, hiking, team-building, yoga, and so many others! To quote a previous camper, "when I am at Camp Kesem, it makes me feel like all of my other problems have momentarily disappeared".

Our counselors are highly trained student leaders from the University of Virginia. These counselors work year-round to raise funds, conduct outreach in their communities, and plan the incredible camp experience our campers will remember for life.
