Wildlife Caretakers Camp

Animal lovers, aspiring veterinarians and naturalists won’t want to miss this camp! Campers will get firsthand experience in the care of Meadowside’s resident raptors, reptiles, amphibians, and insects. Join us for fun excursions to a variety of wildlife centers, including the zoo and an animal sanctuary, where our hosts will demonstrate animal care, feeding, and handling. During this week of walking in wildlife caretakers’ shoes, we will explore how human and animal lives intersect and what roles we play in this relationship.

Rangers Camp

Rangers Camp is a high paced recreation and nature focused camp week. Every day we will embark on a new adventure to a different park and explore the outdoors! Raptor Camp

Spend a week learning about Maryland’s amazing eagles, hawks, vultures, and owls. We’ll learn raptor basics, play predator/prey games, dissect an owl pellet, and look for nesting raptors in the wild as we hike the trails of Meadowside Nature Center to explore the habitats where these birds live. We’ll learn to identify common local species in the sky using binoculars and field guides, meet the resident birds, and help with the daily weighing of food to get a better understanding of how they live under human care.

The Smithsonian Women’s Committee presents the 36th annual Smithsonian Craft Show, featuring 120 premier American artists chosen from a pool of approximately 1,000 applicants. For the first time, the show will highlight Asian cultural influence on American crafts.
